About the project
KLM asked Triple to come up with a solution for KLM’s ePIL – an iPad app that provides electronic passenger information and helps the cabin crew to smoothen the customer services on board and on the way. The old app brought along high roaming costs because it lacked a solution to control the incoming data.

Internet filter
Triple developed an Internet filter based on Cisco technology that is placed in the data center. The filter only allows ePIL data to surf to the KLM servers - thereby controlling and reducing the high roaming costs that are caused worldwide.
The data comes from KLM’s Internet provider who sends it through the filter. Our solution blocks traffic that is not from the ePIL so only the required information reaches the KLM servers. Next to blocking the unnecessary data, the filter sends the passenger information to KLM via the Internet instead of trough roaming so roaming costs are instantly reduced.
Reducing costs
The iPad app on board proofs to be a success now it has been implemented on all airplanes of the company worldwide.
Triple facilitates the possibilities of the second screen application by keeping control over the incoming data, thereby reducing the expensive roaming costs.
